| Terry L. Harper came to the State Executive Director position on December 1, 2001 after having served for 17 years as the Senior Pastor of the Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Before that time he served several churches in Virginia and North Carolina. He earned his AS degree in business from Bluefield College, the BA degree in psychology from Averett College and the Masters of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Rev. Harper has served as a trustee on the International Mission Board of the SBC and also on the Board of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served at the annual meeting on the tellers and credentials committees for the Southern Baptist Convention. He was elected as vice-president and then president of the state convention of Virginia, the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia. Mr. Harper is excited about using what he has learned in nearly 30 years as a pastor to minister to the needs in our convention. |
