This is the web site of the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists. We are a missional people. The folks who serve in the churches that make up this convention have always had missions and church planting on their hearts and minds. As a state convention we have no other institutions or agencies. In other words, unlike many of the older state conventions, we have no hospital, no children’s home, and no home for senior adults, not even a state encampment. All of the funds we receive go to plant churches and develop the churches we have.
We are here to help our churches do what it is that they feel God has called them to do. Therefore, we provide training and resources for our churches. There has been a lot of talk recently among Southern Baptists about getting resources to the places where lostness is the greatest. In West Virginia 7 of every 10 persons are by their own admission not affiliated with any church. We have our work cut out for us and we are at the task of evangelism and church planting. This is where we are investing our energies and where we are investing our dollars.
At the same time, we know we must cultivate the young churches we have and we make ourselves available to them in any way we can be of assistance. If there is any way that I, or anyone on our staff can be of service to you or your church, please feel free to call upon us. Our office hours are 8:30 to 4:30, Monday through Friday and we are located not far from Exit 39 just off of Interstate 64 in the beautiful Teays Valley of West Virginia.
Thank you,
Terry L. Harper
Executive Director-Treasurer

West Virginia Southern Baptists are taking steps to be ready and involved in ministry during disasters.
Recently members from churches in the Allegheny, Mountain State, Coalfields and the Monongahela Associations completed training in introduction, mud out, and chain saw.
Each year your state convention works with our Associations to provide basic trainings in the major areas of ministry that is offered through Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.
